STRATEGI PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER JUJUR MELALUI PENDIDIKAN KETELADANAN DI MAS MANBA'UL HIDAYAH KABUPATEN ASAHAN

Abstract

This study aims to explore and describe the strategies for forming honest character through exemplary education (modelling) at MAS Manba’ul Hidayah, Asahan Regency. In an era marked by shifting moral values, the role of educators as living examples is crucial for internalizing integrity within the madrasah environment. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The primary informants involved the school principal, teachers of Akidah Akhlak, and students, with data validity ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the strategy for cultivating honesty is implemented through three main channels: teacher personification where educators act as role models in discipline and transparency, the creation of an integrity ecosystem evidenced by the "Honesty Canteen" and "Lost and Found" systems, and the integration of honesty into academic practices through strict anti-cheating policies. The study demonstrates that students are significantly more likely to adopt honest behavior when they witness consistent integrity from their teachers in daily interactions. Ultimately, exemplary education proves to be a highly effective and persuasive strategy for character building compared to verbal instruction alone, as the consistency between the words and actions of educators at MAS Manba’ul Hidayah fosters a sustainable culture of trust and integrity.
