Pulmonary tuberculosis is a contagious infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which primarily attacks the lung parenchyma. This bacterium can progressively damage lung tissue, leading to organ impairment and potentially death. Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by elevated blood glucose levels (hyperglycemia) resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. This study aimed to analyze the nursing diagnoses that emerged in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and diabetes mellitus and to evaluate the effectiveness of chest physiotherapy and effective coughing interventions in managing ineffective airway clearance. The research method used was descriptive with a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, active participation, interviews, documentation review, and literature study. The results showed that chest physiotherapy and effective coughing were effective in improving airway clearance, as indicated by normal breath sounds and increased oxygen saturation levels. Therefore, chest physiotherapy and effective coughing can be considered effective nursing interventions in addressing ineffective airway clearance in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and diabetes mellitus in the ICU.
