Factors Associated with the Occurrence of Low Back Pain in Nii Tanasa Kendari PLTU Workers in 2025

Lower back pain (LBP) is a musculoskeletal disorder caused by poor ergonomics. Work posture, psychological conditions, incorrect mobilization, age, smoking habits, and obesity are some common factors that can trigger lower back pain. This study aims to analyze factors associated with the occurrence of low back pain (LBP) among workers at Nii Tanasa Kendari Power Plant. This study uses a quantitative analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 88 workers were selected using a total sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using the Chi-Square test. The results of the Chi-Square test showed no significant relationship between body mass index (p = 0.944), smoking habits (p = 0.958), years of work (p = 0.240), and workload (p = 0.853). However, this study found a significant relationship between medical history (p = 0.000), working posture (p = 0.000), and working duration (p = 0.031). The logistic regression analysis results showed that working posture was the most dominant factor with a p-value = 0.000 and an odds ratio (Exp(B)) = 87.286, followed by medical history with a p-value = 0.003 and Exp(B) = 25.308. In conclusion, working posture is the most dominant factor associated with low back pain complaints among workers at PLTU Nii Tanasa Kendari.
