Analisis Framing Pemberitaan Pesantren Lirboyo dalam Program “Xpose Uncensored” Trans7

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the framing of news coverage concerning Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School in the Xpose Uncensored program broadcast on Trans7 on October 13, 2025. The program attracted public attention because the media often construct social reality through selective and potentially biased presentation of information. This research employs a qualitative approach and uses Robert M. Entman's framing analysis model, which consists of four elements: define problems, diagnose causes, make moral judgments, and treatment recommendations. Data were collected through documentation of the program recordings and narrative transcripts. The findings indicate that the program framed issues related to the Islamic boarding school by emphasizing controversial aspects, leading to a predominantly negative representation. The media highlighted internal problems, constructed moral judgments that placed the institution in an unfavorable light, and recommended stricter oversight of Islamic boarding schools. In conclusion, this framing has the potential to influence and bias public perception. This study is expected to contribute to the field of mass communication studies and enhance public media literacy by encouraging audiences to critically evaluate the media's construction of reality.
