Abstract

This experimental research was conducted at the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Bangkinang. This research aims to find out whether there is an effect on using Facebook as media towards the students writing skill in online class, in academic year 2019/2020. This research was a quasi-experimental research. It involved 42 students of two class, class IPA as the experiment class and class IPS 2 as the control class. The experimental class using Facebook as media and control class using WhatsApp as media. The data were obtained by using Pre-test and Post-test. Pre-test was given to both classes before the treatment and Post-test of both classes were analyzed by using t-test analysis. Based on the data analysis of the research showed that the average students post-test in experimental class were 70, and control class has average students post-test were 66. So, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. So, it can be concluded that there was the effect of using Facebook toward the students’ writing skill at the tenth grade of SMAN 1 Bangkinang.
